What will USERS accept in terms of latency in an application?

Description:

As vendors move applications from character driven environments such as Terminal Emulators, what was considered acceptable in terms of latency in character based application will not be acceptable with BUI/GUI applications. 

Thin Client CUI/GUI and BUI are all best below the 50ms latency. The Terminal Emulators are much more forgiving and can have acceptable performance with latency 2-4 times longer.
