01209: User Authentication with WEB Start

Title:

User Authentication with WEB Start

Description:

Q. How does user authentication work when using WEB Start? I do not know all the remote machines that may be connecting so relying on the .rhosts file is not practical.

A. One method to use in WEB environment is to start BBj services as non-root level user on the Unix machine. Permissions are granted based off this user. The .rhosts file for the user that starts BBj has accessed opened to allow all remote machines and user access.

Sample .rhosts
