The 8.4 BLM will run under Red Hat 9 but you may see the following message in the BLM log file: 

Incorrectly built binary which accesses errno, h_errno or _res directly. 
Needs to be fixed.

Resolution:

This error message will not stop the Basis License Manager from running. It does not appears to have any adverse effects. If the BLM is not running , check for additional error messages in the BLM log file.
