ATTENTION 88K USERS: 
PLEASE READ THIS IMPORTANT NOTICE TO PREVENT SYSTEM DISRUPTION JANUARY 1, 1999! 

Data General shipped Year 2000 ready firmware updates to all Hardware Support Agreement customers in June, 1998. This update includes a fix to a 1999 related problem* on 88k systems and must be loaded immediately to prevent a system disruption on January 1, 1999.

If you are a US or Canadian contract customer and did not receive your update, please call the Customer Support Center (CSC). The media will be shipped directly to you at no charge. Please have your Data General contract number and AViiON product family (for example AV 5500) when you call, as you will be asked to provide this information to receive the update. Firmware updates are customer installable; however, you may arrange for Data General to install updates during your contracted principle period of maintenance for an additional fee. 

Non-contract customers in the US may order the update by calling 1-800-343-8842, Option 2. Non-contract customers in Canada may order the update by calling 1-800-482-2311 ext. 5358.
