ERROR=77 (SQL connect or execution failed) 

Printing the sqlerr of the channel returns: 

        Execute error: template/field error 

This error can occur during an SQLEXEC doing an update when the data dictionary does not have any indices defined for the data. Using the ODBC driver will return a more descriptive error message: 

        [Basis ODBC Driver] Execute Error: Update failed No Index Defined In Data Dictionary 

Resolution:

Define a primary index in the Data Dictionary.
