00556: When using a SYSPRINT printer, an undesired formfeed is sent after each page

Title:

When using a SYSPRINT printer, an undesired formfeed is sent after each page

Description:

Visual PRO/5 never adds a form feed to the end of a page, so that you can have complete control over your printouts. However, the Windows Print Manager does add this form feed. To illustrate the point, you can send output to a printer two different ways. When bypassing Print Manager and printing directly to the port (as in redirection from the operating system like: dir ‘c:\windows >lpt1:’), the output will go to the printer without a form feed. In fact, in order to get the last page out of the printer, you have to force the printer to do a form feed. In contrast, when printing something from Notepad (which goes through Print Manager and the printer driver), it will always append a form feed to every page. Visual PRO/5 doesn’t have a way to tell the printer not to add a form feed, but there may be an option similar to that in the printer’s setup under Windows. If so, that’s the best way to disable the form feed.
