00041: Error 12 when using _DDEDIT.UTL

Error 12 when using _DDEDIT.UTL

Description:

When using _DDEDIT.UTL, I am getting an “ERROR=12 (MISSING OR DUPLICATE FILE)” even though I have my config.tpm file defined and my DATA and DICTIONARY are correct. Why does this error occur? 

Resolution:

This error is commonly due to BBx’s failure to find the extended utilities which are necessary for DDedit’s operation. To remedy this, verify that the BBx’s PREFIX is being set to find the extended and standard utilities. Also check the config.tpm file, if you are using the BBEXT and BBSTD variables to point to the standard or extended utilities. These should be pointing to the same path that the PREFIX is using to find the utilities.
